Hurst Show & Country Fayre
40th anniversary show's special attractions

A big celebration of the 40th birthday of Hurst Show & Country Fayre is planned for this year's event.

The anniversary show on 29th and 30th June will celebrate all those years of fun in a rural setting. Thousands of visitors have helped us raise considerable funds for good causes.

  • Fortieth fun for children will include an exciting and fun fact packed Discovery Trail around the show ground with a small prize for all.
  • A brand new song will celebrate the anniversary. Its composer will be former pupil at St Nicholas Primary, and organist at St Nicholas Church, Tom Lowe, 28. He will work with current pupils on the words and music.
  • The show is appealing to everyone to pass on their memories and photos of the event to help create an exhibition. Please contact us if you can help.

A first in 2018, the Antiques Valuation event, is returning on Sunday. Last year two Beswick horse figurines valued at the show fetched a total of £185 at auction.

The fun dog show, art show, music tent and classic vehicle show will all return. Pre-register your vehicle today.

Children can compete in the third UK hobby horse show jumping championships and enjoy pony rides, games, a bouncy castle and face painting.

There will be a full programme of arena events, including terrier racing, and beer, barbecue and tea tents. Shop for local crafts and foods and watch craftspeople at work.

The event started as a one day gymkhana in 1979, mainly to fundraise for St Nicholas Primary School. See more history of the show.

Show chair Sue Payne said: "Our visitors kindly tell us the show has a special, non-commercial atmosphere. We're looking forward to a great, celebratory event."

Last year a record sum, more than £20,000, was donated to causes including St Nicholas School, Just Around the Corner, Hurst, helping Wokingham young people, Alexander Devine Children's Hospice, and Bracknell, Wokingham Red Diamond disabled sport.
